“Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.”

― Lou Holtz

Attitude-it can be one of the most important factors during a kaizen event.   Attitude takes the event from simply process improvement to a transformation of culture.  All state employees are capable of improving their work and state agencies are becoming more and more motivated to improve their processes, but it is their attitude that determines if a kaizen is a process improvement experience or a game changer in how they operate.

Kaizen events push participants to think beyond what they thought they were capable of and asks them to make transformational changes.  This is not an easy task and can be uncomfortable for many.  But, a positive attitude makes the difference.  Attitude becomes the driving force and allows for participants to go to the next level and make their work and their agency amazing.

During a kaizen facilitators will help participants with change management and tools to make the transition easier.  However, the participants are the owners of the process and thus the owners of the improvements.  Their attitude will be integral in the transformation and pursuit to perform beyond what they ever thought was possible.
